Listening 2 U is proud to offer our own Child Bereavement Awareness Training, a sensitive and informative one-day course designed for professionals, caregivers, educators, and support workers who support children and families affected by the death of a child.

This child bereavement training explores the unique and complex nature of grief following a child’s death, helping participants understand how loss affects parents, siblings, and extended family members. It examines the emotional and psychological impact of bereavement, including complicated grief, trauma responses, and PTSD.

Participants will also explore cultural and spiritual perspectives around death and mourning, gaining a deeper appreciation for diverse experiences of loss.

A key part of the training focuses on effective communication, what to say (and what to avoid), how to use empathy, silence, and active listening, and how to provide compassionate support for bereaved siblings. The course includes practical strategies to help create emotionally safe spaces, support others through grief, and identify when to refer to specialist services such as bereavement charities or counselling.

The training also acknowledges the emotional impact on professionals, offering guidance on self-care, boundaries, and supervision to reduce burnout and vicarious trauma.

By the end of the day, participants will feel more confident, skilled, and emotionally equipped to support children and families experiencing loss with compassion and sensitivity.

A certificate of attendance is provided upon completion.
