Listening 2 U is proud to offer our own Nurturing the Inner Child Course, a comprehensive, one-day training designed to help counsellors and therapists integrate Inner Child work safely and effectively into their therapeutic practice.
This Inner Child training provides a clear framework for understanding and working with the Inner Child, from the wounded and fearful parts to the playful, creative, and joyful aspects of self. Participants will explore the theoretical foundations of this approach, drawing on key concepts from Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory, Somatic Experiencing, and Polyvagal Theory.
Through this learning, counsellors gain insight into how early experiences, unmet needs, and conditional love shape core beliefs, emotional regulation, and adult relationships, often leading to patterns such as perfectionism, people-pleasing, or low self-worth.
The course moves from theory into practical application, offering a range of experiential techniques to facilitate client healing, including:
- Guided meditations for reconnecting with the Inner Child
- Chair work for dialogue between the Adult Self and Inner Child
- Creative expression and journaling to give voice to the Inner Child’s needs
- Reparenting exercises to develop compassion, safety, and emotional integration
The course also emphasises therapist wellbeing, encouraging supervision, reflective practice, and self-care to reduce burnout and secondary trauma.
By the end of the day, participants will feel confident in applying a phased, trauma-informed approach to Inner Child work, enabling them to help clients heal childhood wounds, strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect with authenticity.
A certificate of attendance is issued upon completion.
