  • Some cases escalate to physical and sexual violence, with emotional torment frequently present.

Men's Mental Health – Why It Matters

Men Do Seek Help—When It’s the Right Kind of Help

Research shows that men will seek support--if that support is accessible, relevant, and non-judgmental. When help feels meaningful, safe, and respectful of their experiences, men are just as likely to reach out as anyone else.

Yet the statistics remain alarming:
  • In the UK, a man dies by suicide every two hours.
  • Across the world, a man takes his own life every minute.
  • 1 in 6 men who attempt suicide will try again within a year.

Misconceptions That Harm
Too many men suffer in silence due to outdated and harmful beliefs:
  • “I'm a man—I should be able to deal with it.”
  • “Real men don’t cry.”
  • “Women don’t beat blokes.”

These misconceptions stop men from speaking up, asking for help, and getting the support they need.

The Questions Men Often Ask Themselves
  • Why do I feel like the odd one out?
  • Why do I feel like I can’t cope?
  • Why do I feel weak for struggling?
  • Is this really happening—or is it just me?
  • Why do I feel so lost and defeated when I should be able to manage?
You’re not alone in asking these questions. Many men feel exactly the same way—and many find relief when they begin to talk about it.
